This is the new name of the Family History Research group. This is to emphasise that we are not just genealogy research but social and local history as well as family history. Both web pages will be live for a short while until people are familiar with the new name.

Janice

Our group meets on the fourth THURSDAY of each month from 10.00 a.m. to 12 noon at Mawdesley Village Hall. £2 per session.

Our next meeting is on the 22nd October

Anne Bishop’s talk has the working title “the mysteries surrounding a Lancashire farm over time”. We might hear how she has traced some of her family history and of witches, boggarts and fairies.

Chris Heaven is going to tell us about the history of the Freeminers of the Forest of Dean, the man cave in his garden and why he went to meet a man in the woods.

If you enjoy hearing stories about the lives of ordinary people and where they lived, this is the group for you.

If you want to research your family history and don’t know how to go about it, we can help.

If you have stories to tell, we would love to hear them.

Contact by email using the "Click to send a message" on this page or speak to Janice at the Community morning, you will find her at the Helpdesk
