Mawdesley u3a has a large and friendly walking group. We offer several walks a month and cater for all levels of fitness, offering the following types of walks:

  • Short walk: Up to 5 miles
  • Medium walk: 5-8 miles, flat & undulating
  • Long walk: Over 8 miles
  • Strenuous walk: Less than 8 miles but more elevation

The walks can be scheduled on any day of the week and we have a large number of walk leaders within the group who decide on the route, date and the number of people who can attend the walk. All the planned walks are listed in the events section below. When joining the group we ask for a one off £2 joining fee to cover administration. costs. To join the group and sign up for a walk come and visit us at the walking table at one of the Mawdesley u3a community mornings. Details of walk routes, start points and times are available 3-4 weeks before the date of the walk. We do not post these on the webpage. Please sign up for walks at the Walking Table. Make sure you have the details, including name and phone number of the leader when you sign up.

We do take the safety of our group members seriously and ask that you don't join a walk unless you are certain that your level of fitness enable you to complete a walk. We ask that before you join a walk you read the guidance notes for walkers and sign a disclaimer. Click on the button below to download the guidance notes and disclaimer.

All walkers should come equipped for the weather conditions, with walking boots required for all walks. Please bring a snack, plenty to drink and a packed lunch.

Most of the walks are limited in numbers and fill up quickly, so keep checking for new walks to avoid missing out.

Please note that dogs are not allowed on our walks, there is a separate dog walking group, and the details can be found on the Groups page of the website.

We have a large number of walk leaders who volunteer to lead walks throughout the year. If you would like to lead a walk please let us know. The leaders' walk sheet and risk assessment form can be downloaded by clicking on the buttons below.
