FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH GROUP

Our next meeting is on the 23rd July and will take place in the main hall of the Village Hall between 10am – 12 noon.

We will start the meeting by looking at a home movie of Ormskirk made by the dad of Ray Waterhouse. If you knew the town in 1960 you may be able to help identify some of the buildings and share any memories you may have. 1960 is now a long time ago and could be considered family history, where were you in 1960 and what were you doing?

Chris Heaven will also be giving an update about the great Leyland train crash of 1898 and I might give a presentation on how CHATgpt has helped me come to a better understanding of a family portrait.

I am always looking for suggestions for future meetings and what you can contribute however small. Perhaps you have a photo you could talk about for a few minutes.

Our group meets on the fourth THURSDAY of each month from 10.00 a.m. to 12 noon at Mawdesley Village Hall. £2 per session.

We are an informal, friendly participative group with an interest in tracing our ancestors and researching the local and social history which influenced their lives.

Many of our members have a good understanding of how to carry out research and are more than happy to help other members.

At meetings we share what we have found out, and occasionally visit places of interest, or invite outside speakers.

We really appreciate contributions from our members by way of sharing research tips and queries, documents, photographs, artefacts, or just interesting stories.
