Swallows and Amazons Trip

An Intrepid group of paddlers went on a Swallows & Amazon trip on Coniston Water. They set off from the Brown Howes car park and paddled north along the side of the lake, having a good view of the wildlife and views as they went along. After travelling up the lake they crossed to the other side through some very large waves in the centre, which caused some consternation with the canoes rocking and rough paddling. They then paddled down the lake and stopped off on Peel Island (didn't find any pirates) for lunch of sandwiches, cakes etc all swigged down with tea and coffees. This was a much-earned rest after the large waves.

After lunch on Peel Island, the group paddled down the east side of the lake and back across to the west side then down to the southern end of the lake before returning back to the car park.
